AutoIt script not working while program windows are in focus

I've been trying to make a script that will type a message that works when I have any normal window open like notepad but when i try to use the script in a different program window (in this case Dota 2) the script won't work. Can anyone enlighten me?

I want the script to type out "missing" so i can inform my teammates when the opponent has left the lane.
